Free Evening Talk – When It’s Time To Say Goodbye – 28th November

Although a difficult subject, euthanasia is something that we will all inevitably have to face as horse owners.  It is a subject our vets are asked a lot about so we have decided to hold an informative evening to discuss what to expect and the various options that are available to you.
Everyone is welcome. We feel that it can be incredibly helpful as an owner to think about your arrangements and find out more about the subject before the time comes so you can have a plan in place for what is inevitably an upsetting time especially if it is unexpected.
David Funnell from Cherry Tree Crematorium will also be on hand to provide some information for you.

Yogi Sharp and Sarah Holland-Villa from Sync Equine will also be coming to tell us more about their Thermography service which they are offering through Milbourn Equine to our clients.

Hawkhurst Evening Talk

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Milbourn Equine evening talk at Bodiam International Arena last Wednesday.

Merial gave an informative talk about the causes of gastric ulcers, while Dengie Horse Feeds gave an entertaining talk regarding nutrition. Our vet Howard finished off the evening with a brief summary of what you should be keeping stocked up in your first aid kit.

Our raffle also raised £68. We hope you enjoyed it and keep an eye out for details of our next one in the Spring.

Sevington Client Evening

Our Milbourn Equine Sevington team held a well attended and fun client evening at the end of June.

We had a very informative talk from the attending fire service followed by a practical demo rescuing a fallen horse from the Faversham fire brigade. They kindly brought along their ‘Unimog’ – which is the heavy lifting gear that they use in large animal rescues.

A lovely buffet followed, and the second half of the evening David McDonald provided a talk on First Aid followed by a question & answer session.

We also held a very successful raffle for the Pilgrims Hospice – prizes were donated from local businesses, clients & suppliers, which we are very grateful for. We had some excellent prizes and raised £355.35 – well done everyone!

Look out for details of our next client evening on our website, which will be held in the Autumn.

Changing Lives through Horses has been designed to help improve the lives of young disengaged people, using horses as the inspiration for change. The equestrian environment provides young people with structure and a sense of responsibility. Horses can help young people connect with society and improve their wellbeing. Key skills are developed by the individual that will serve
them for the rest of their lives. More information can be found at

Milbourn Equine Client Evening

Finally the sun decided to shine on us for our Client Evening on Tuesday 5th July. This was very timely as we had a demonstration in the arena at the back of the clinic on Pre purchase vettings!

One of our clients kindly brought her young mare to the clinic for David McDonald to perform a Pre Purchase Vetting. She was impeccably behaved, but gave David a few odd looks when he was hanging on to one leg or the other!

After the demonstration we had a break for refreshments with a lovely buffet and well deserved drinks sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim.

Tom from Boehringer had planned to give a talk on Colic but unfortunately was unable to attend so our vet Howard Newitt from Hawkhurst saved the day and stepped in.

We watched a very informative DVD on Colic and the symptoms to look for, followed by a Q&A session.

All the feedback was very positive and we are looking forward to our next evening- keep an eye on our website for details.

Milbourn Equine Client Evening

It was rather a chilly evening on Wednesday 16th March, but our hardy clients were not deterred!
What an amazing turnout we had, the room soon filled up there was only standing room at the back.
P1000374Saracen Horse Feeds started our evening off with a slideshow and talk on regular feeding and complications that can arise, then took numerous questions from clients.
David Mcdonald then discussed our new Equine Healthcare Plan that we have just launched at Milbourn Equine. P1000380Again there were quite a few questions but everyone seemed to agree it’s a great plan, with some clients signing up there and then!
We then had a well deserved break for some yummy food & drink, kindly sponsored by Saracen Horse Feeds and a chance to have a chat.
Finally Martin Webber from the NFU spoke about the importance of having your horse and yourself insured. Again this generated numerous questions and hopefully satisfied our clients concerns.
The Sevington team felt it was a very worthwhile client evening and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining our clients. Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.
